The weather during our cruise up the Yangtze was rather dismal with frequent rain showers and generally overcast at best, sometimes misty.  Our embarkation was delayed because the ship had to stop downstream fogbound!

Lower Xiling Gorge

The Three Gorges water control project
	The Three Gorges Water Control Project mainly consists of the main dam, overflow dam, two hydropower stations and two navigation structures. The dam is 2309m across the top of the concrete wall and is 185m high. It has a five step series of locks and a ship lift, under construction.
