The Antarctic Sound lies between the very tip of the Antarctic Peninsula an D'Urville, Joinville and Dundee Islands. The sound was not named or its location but rather for the ship Antarctic during Otto Nordenskjold's 1903 Swedish South Polar Expedititon, captained by Norwegian legend Carl Anton Larsen.  Huge tabular icebergs are brought here by gyre-like currents from the Weddell Sea.

Whales were spotted, but it is quite difficult to see more of them than they want to reveal!

This is known as Iceberg Alley due to the huge tabular icebergs from the ice shelves in the Weddell Sea.

Seals and penguins can be seen floating around on icebergs.

Brown Buff

Brown Buff lies on the coast of the Antarctic Sound at the end of the Tabarin Peninsula. It is well populated with Adelie penguins.
Many colonies can be seen     Kelp gull
