The 'Egg boxes' extension to the Town Hall, built in the 1960's was demolished in 2002.

Autumn colours October 2004 From the end of the Winter Gardens.  The top of the centre of the demolishing 'Wedding Cake can be seen in Oct 2004. Half term October 2004 and the fountains being appreciated!
       
In October 2004 the Egg Boxes have gone and a new hotel is appearing in their place. St Pauls Hotel is completed, between the Town Hall and Wintergardens. 2206 Balls outside the hotle and Winter Gardens. 2006

The Town Hall Police Box, now preserved in November 2000. The Standards Plaque.
       
  The facade of the former Zion Chapel in Westfield Terrace. It was taken over by the Royal Hospital and used as an outpatient department.  It has now been rebuilt as a block of apartments.

Whiteley Woods

     
About 1780 Thomas Boulsover, a Methodist, of Whiteley Wood Hall gave £100 for the erection of a Chapel.  In 1782 it had 15 members.
The Chapel building on Whiteley Wood Road. The plaque now affixed to the building,   Meadow Lane Farm showing the disused chapel, now a barn.
       
Old Trap Lane by Meadow Lane Farm. The former Whiteley Wood Open Air School buildings in Cottage Lane are now a private residence.
       

Winter Gardens

     
2002 The Winter Gardens were built in 2002 and is the largest modern greenhouse on Surrey Street, behind the Town Hall. 2002
