St Fillan having come from Ireland, travelled on foot around Strath, Tyndrum
and Killin teaching a Christian way of life to the Picts and Scots. A
priory was built in recognition of his teachings. |

In 1803 Telford was commissioned by
Parliament to build new roads and bridges in the Highlands. The way
now follows one of his old drove road across the wilderness of Rannoch Moor.
Unfortunately this 9 mile afternoon slog in the rain made it difficult to
appreciate the fine scenery. It also put rain drops on the lens for some
attempts to capture the beauty! |

Kingshouse was built as a barracks in the
1700's, but later became accommodation for drovers and later travelling
gentry. The latter needed comfortable accomodation and the finest of
food served at their table. It now carries on as trade as the
Kingshouse Hhotel. |
