Summer Resort    
Because Chengde is in the mountains the Emperor moved here from Beijing for the hottest months of the year, so it has the same sort of accommodation as the Forbidden City and the facilities of the Beijing Summer Palace.
It is not as decorous, but has plenty of shade.
