The way goes through a suburb of Fort William called Caol. From there this is the view across to Loch Eil. Looking back to Fort William from Corpach. Corpach and the start of the Caledonian Canal, which was begun in 1803 by Telford and Jessop. The first lock between the sea and the canal at Corpach.
       
Boats moored on the Caledonian Canal at Corpach. Neptune's Staircase, the biggest flight of locks, lifting boats 64 feet through 8 close locks. The 'Lord of the Glens' a cruise boat, which goes round the off shore islands as well as the canal. Boats moored above Neptune's Staircase.
